Originally formed in the old Palace Cinema in Lake St in 1998, End Credits is a non profit organisation Incorporated in Cairns, Far North Queensland, dedicated to sourcing and screening non mainstream films for its members and the general public. It is run by a committee of local volunteers, and currently has over 350 financial members.
A founding member of the Centre of Contemporary Arts we screened films at CoCA in The Theatre regularly as part of our Unseen Cinema series up until the centre closed for refurbishment. We currently screen this program at BCC Cinemas Earlville bi-monthly.
Starry Night Cinema ™ is End Credits outdoor screening program.
Using one of our large venue inflatable Airscreens Starry Nights Cinema events are held regularly from July to December in the Cairns Botanic Gardens. Community and private events using the Airscreens can be booked by contacting us. For email just add admin to @endcredits.org.au.
Starry Night Cine Bar is our small venue, pop-up cinema program which may appear anywhere we can find a cooperating venue.
End Credits also provides equipment, screening services and program advice for Cairns Regional Council's Moving Picture Nights, Tanks Round Cinema and CPAC Cinema.
Without a home location or a base venue the future for End Credits Film Club is as uncertain as it has been for the past 21 years. Entirely funded by ticket sales, contract screening income, and occasional equipment grants from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund, the club aims to continue as long as we have supportive audiences and active volunteers to do what needs to be done.
Our plans for 2020 are currently under development.
